How they got their nicknames By Jean Hirsch (Ada Jean Pearson)

Charles (Squatty) Robert Pearson

I don’t know how many nicknames he had over the years, but I do remember one story of his coming in the house one day and telling mom that he saw a pretty black kitten that had white on it’s back—on his way to school—of course he was called “Skunk” for a long time after that.

The other story was that on the way to Troy they had to drive past the old folks home. The men would be outside squatted on their heels talking. He thought that was what he wanted to be—old Squattys—like those people and that nickname stuck with him for the rest of his life.
